Create an Old World, Faux Mosaic Framed Wall Art
I love the look of old world architecture and time worn finishes so I couldn't resist trying to replicate the look. Old finishes seem to tell the most interesting stories...how many generations have these old pieces seen? Can you imagine the stories they could tell? The family dinners, the holidays, the changes of seasons and building of traditions. Those are some of my favorite things.
I wanted to create a piece that looked like old mosaic tiles that have been chipped away at from years and years of use. Here is what I came up with:
Supplies:
12x12 piece of 1/2' sanded interior plywood
DIY Paint in White Swan, Gravel Road, and Black Velvet
DIY Big Top Sealer
IOD Air Dry Clay
IOD transfers Wall Flower and Label Ephemera
IOD stamps Mosaica and Craquelure
Paint Couture Crust
220 grit sand paper
IOD brayer
plastic card or other straight edge
baby wipes
soft cloth
brushes...I used a 1/2" soft artist brush and the Paint Pixie Dusty Brush
IOD furniture transfers are so versatile that you can use them on just about any surface and I especially love how easy they are to use to create unique, one-of-a-kind wall art. This is a step by step tutorial, not just an overview, so you will be able to easily recreate this project. I hope you enjoy it!
