I turned an old, chippy window into beautiful wall art. Here's how I did it...

Updated: Jun 22

One of my favorite canvases is an old, vintage window. This window was unique in it's size as it was super long and narrow; the perfect piece for an IOD rub on transfer and some imagination. I loved the wear on the window frame, all chippy and crackled. You could see where the window had been lifted over the years to let in the breezes of summer days gone by.

Window Art Makeover With a Transfer

Supplies:

  • an old window

  • DIY Paint in Bead Board

  • DIY Big Top Sealer

  • IOD Japonica Transfer

  • Paint Pixie Dusty Brush

  • hardware for hanging (I used 2 screw eyes and heavy duty picture hanging wire)

I painted the glass with Debi's Design Diary DIY Paint in Bead Board, sealed with Big Top, and then applied the IOD rub on Transfer, Japonica .

IOD large transfers are 24" by 33" which gives you the opportunity to do one large project or many smaller ones. For this project I cut apart the elements and moved them around to match my vision. I hope you enjoy it.
