My Favorite Pieces of Furniture Art - DIY Inspired

I found my love for painting furniture many years ago, while still teaching high school math. I am so lucky that retirement from teaching has allowed me to pursue this passion every day. Owning a brick and mortar store has pushed me to be selective about the pieces that I paint so they are fewer and farther between. Here are some of my favorites and I hope to share many tutorials with you in the coming days and months.

This beautiful vanity was one of the first pieces I totally fell in love with. It was done in Annie Sloan Paint in Duck Egg, Pure White, and clear and dark wax. She was difficult to say goodbye to for sure.

This piece had so much character and was so much fun to paint. I used General Finishes Java Gel Stain on the top, and blended Annie Sloan paints on the body (French Linen, Paris Grey, and more). I accentuated the details and high points with ASCP in Pure White. It was sealed in clear wax.

This piece I saved from certain doom and it sits on the floor of my showroom. I blended Debi's Design Diary DIY Paint in Fancy Farm Girl, Queen Bee, and Cake Batter. I used the IOD Botanist's Journal transfer on the front and she houses my overstock of transfers. DIY and IOD are certainly a match made in heaven.

But I think this little gal stole my heart. I layered DIY Paint in Pedal Pusher, Gypsy Green, and White Swan and used the IOD Wander Transfer, heavily distressed with 120 grit sandpaper.

I hope you enjoyed this short trip down memory lane with me and I look forward to sharing video tips and trick as we continue on this journey.
